Welcome to the Interviews page, this month I interviewed talented author Bonnie Dee.

Kyla: Welcome, Bonnie. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed by me. =) Can you tell us about your latest release?

Bonnie: A Hearing Heart, available from Liquid Silver Books, is my most recent release. It's a historical western about a deaf mute stable hand who falls for the local teacher and all the trials they overcome. http://liquidsilverbooks.com/books/ahearingheart.htm.

But I believe paranormal is more the genre that interests readers of your blog so I'd like to talk about The Thief and the Desert Flower, available at Samhain. I was inspired to write it by the sexy desert scene in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Thief has received two Recommended Reads. One from Fallen Angel Reviews and one from IRead Romance blog. : http://samhainpublishing.com/romance/the-thief-and-the-desert-flower.

Can a princess find love in the arms of a desert thief?

Princess Chala is facing an arranged marriage to a man she's never met. When her caravan is attacked in the desert and she's kidnapped by the nomad leader, she thinks only of escape-at first. But the charming rogue, Kyo is set on seducing her until she freely gives him what he's craved from the moment he saw her. The fiery-tempered princess and the unscrupulous scoundrel engage in a battle of the sexes.

Lust slowly turns to love as they share details of their lives and realize they have more common ground than expected. But Chala's powerful bridegroom, Brachas isn't about to let a merger between two kingdoms dissolve without a fight. His soldiers find and reclaim the princess, who now has an agenda of her own.

Can a clever princess and her determined lover save a desert people, bring a despot to justice and find a future together in a world of their choosing?

Kyla: Tell us what drew you to write erotic romance. Would you like to try something different with your writing? If you would, what would that be?

Bonnie: I used to write fan fiction and often it got quite racy. When I decided to try to write for publication, the steamy factor worked to my advantage since erotic romance was the hot new kid on the block. Recently, I've lost some of my verve for writing super sexy scenes. I'm currently working on a Young Adult zombie apocalypse story. I tell you what, plotting a lot of action and suspense is way harder for me than exploring the emotions in a love affair.

Kyla: Would you like to tell us what you are working on just now?

Bonnie: The zombie novel I mentioned above. But actually that one's on hold for the moment as I'm currently finishing up a gay Tarzan story. Here's the blurb to give you an idea…

Oxford anthropologist James Litchfield is on an expedition in the Congo when he's attacked by a leopard-and rescued by a naked man who bursts from the wilderness like an avenging angel. James learns the local legend of the ape-man who wanders with the mountain gorillas and determines to encounter him again.

After slowly cajoling the wild man to trust him, James bestows the name Michael on his savior. As he learns to communicate with the jungle man and teaches him about his own kind, James fights a deep attraction. He's certain Michael's apparent reciprocation of his desire is only because James is the first human of either sex he's ever encountered. For his part, Michael is overwhelmed by the new world opening before him and the man who arouses a powerful mating instinct in him.

Complications bring Michael into disastrous contact with the rest of the expedition. While James suffers from malarial fever, Michael is caged. Soon both are on board a steamer back to England. It is there that their long suppressed desires break free and they come together with passionate frenzy and startling intimacy. Despite Michael's limited speech, the two men are able to communicate and bond on a deep level.

But will they be able to sustain this relationship when the pressures of society tear them apart? And after years of isolation, can Michael find his place in the world of men?

Kyla: You have co-written some books with other authors, can you tell us why you enjoy writing this way?

Bonnie: I love, love, love it. I like to compare it to being in a relay as opposed to a long distance run. Every time my creativity starts to flag, I pass the story back to my partner to breathe new life into it. And by the time the story comes back and I see the cool new part that almost magically appeared, I'm pumped to keep going.

I'm writing erotic fairytales with Marie Treanor. Cinderella Unmasked is available at Samhain (blurb below) and Demon Lover will come out next year. The latter is a take on Rumplestiltskin. I've also written some historical m/m with Summer Devon. Our first, Seducing Stephen, will be released at Loose Id next year.

Kyla: Tell us who your favourite authors are, do you have any recommendations about books we just have to read?

Bonnie: I admit I don't read as much as I used to because I spend so much time with words every day. But I recently read Butterfly Tattoo by Deidre Knight (available at Samhain) and was very impressed with both the story and her fantastic writing style.

Kyla: Please tell us where we can purchase your fabulous books and where we can find out all about your latest news.

Bonnie: To find links to all my books at various publishers like Samhain, Loose Id and Liquid Silver Books, go to my web site http://bonniedee.com. Please join my yahoo group, which is not interactive but an information vehicle only at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bonniedee/.

Thank you to Bonnie for her interview answers. Look out for another great interview in November.
